More Complete Sky Claws

Well here we go. I got some time to finish up some more of my Sky Claws. Here are three more of just the standard guys.

Super Secret Project

Well, not really. See if it were really secret, would I be posting about it, much less posting pictures of it?

Anywho, quite a while back, I bought an Ork Warboss in Finecast, and it has been sitting on my desk for months. Then a couple of nights ago, I decided I wanted to paint him up. So here we go.

I of course I was a dummy, and I primed him before I took any pictures. So please excuse the craptacular photos.

Sky Claw Plasma Pistoleer

Back again with another update. I have really found that sitting down and doing one guy at a time is very easy to do during the week. That being said, I've got five more Sky Claws set up do to, and I am going to try to knock most of them out on the weekend. We'll see how it goes.

Sky Claw Power Fist

My latest Sky Claw has been completed. This guy I knocked out in a couple of hours. As with the Plasma guy, I already had the base done (except the edging) the base coat, highlights and wash on the armor, so there really wasn't much left to do.

Sky Claw Plasma

As I said last time, with school going, my hobby has slowed down a lot. I have eight more Sky Claws sitting on my desk. I used my new air brush to prime and base them very easily. I then went through and did the bases and then a different day I highlighted the armor, and washed it. From there I sat down and painted up this plasma gunner. I got the body done last night and this evening I did the jump pack.

Completed Wolf Guard Battle Leader

Or I guess he could be a Wolf Lord, but I digress. So I finished this guy up the other day (boy, hobby time has sloooooooowed down since school has started up again) and I have got to say I really like him.

White Dwarf: Even When They Win They Fail

I have been wanting to get into a new army for some time now. I love my Space Wolves, but I would like to change gears. I have been toying around with the idea of a different chapter of space marines (seeing as I am a 3+ fanboy), but I can't get over the thought that I have four or so Rhinos and three Land Raiders done up for Space Wolves, and I don't want to buy more to paint them a different color.

For a long while now, I have been saying, "if GW would redo the Sisters so that they weren't all metal and static, I would totally do a Witch Hunter army." So now here we go, GW has redone the Sisters. And they suck.

I'm not really talking about the rules, as I'm not much of a player, but the models. I don't even think that GW even bothered to redo any of the metal models as FineCast. How does that happen? EVERYTHING is getting redone in FineCast, but nothing for the Sisters. I am so underwhelmed, I just don't know where to begin.

Wolf Priests Finished!

So, some more progress. Today I have my two Wolf Priests. Its funny, but the one I wasn't expecting to look good, I really like, and unfortunetly the one I expected to look hawt, didn't turn out that way. As you can see, I wen't back and painted them black. It really wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be, and I think they look better now.

Banner Bearer Redux

Well I'm getting tired all the things I have going on all at the same time and I wanted something that I could complete pretty quickly. Enter the Banner Bearer.

I did up this guy for the original BoLScon (now War Games Con). I didn't actually take him in my army, but I just wanted him in there for the heck of it. The best part of him (in my opinion) is the green stuff sculpted wolf-hide banner. This was one of my first forays into green stuffing, and I think it came out pretty well.

With the update, I was just darkening the armor up a bit, and some other things including repainting the power fist red. I really like the pop of red on the model. In addition to that, I did a head swap to keep with the bare-headed theme of my army.

Wolf Priest con Jump Pack (Will the Insanity Ever End?)

Ok, maybe. See there was a problem with I painted up my Ulrik the Slayer model. It turns out that the Space Wolves also paint their "chaplain" armor black, and not blue-grey. Guess which color I painted my Ulrik!

Book Review: Imperial Glory (No Foolin' This Time)

So I dropped the ball by putting a place holder in my schedule and then not actually writing an article. Sorry, my bad.

Anywho, Imperial Glory is another Imperial Guard story. The problem in, my head is that pretty much any Imperial Guard story not set in a city seems to remind me of some of the old Vietnam-era movies such as Apocalypse Now or Platoon, or whatever, and this book is no exceptions. It reminded me a bit of Siege of Firebase Gloria. Now that is not to say that this is a bad think. This book is very good.

This story centers around Major Stanhope and Lieutenant Carson of the 11th Brimlock Consolidated Regiment. Consolidated because the Bromlock had been fighting for 20 years. Only the best of the best are left, and most of them have been been killed leaving only the elite of the elite (like most Guard armies you see on the tabletop now-a-days, all veterans).

On Cheating (Supposedly)

It seems lately that it is difficult to have a single "major" tournament go by without accusations of cheating. I think that this is due to the rise in video coverage. It happened at Adepticon 2010 and Adepticon 2011 and now at the NOVA open. I'm sure that there are more examples, but I'm just a part-time player and I don't spend very long on the web looking up tournament coverage. One thing I did notice is that at my backyard con, War Games Con, I didn't see an outcry of "Foul." I personally believe that this is because there wasn't structured video coverage of the con.
