Chaos Space Marine Lord with Jump Pack: Complete!

And so we come to the end of another mini. I almost feel sad every time I finish a really cool mini, and this guy was really cool. I like this guy for the fact that he is not too over the top chaos-ie. In my humble opinion he is just chaos-ie enough.

The skulls on the top of his backpack were done the way I always do them. Astronomicon Grey, followed by Bleached Bone, and then a wash of Gryphonne Sepia. It is quick and easy, and give me a decent looking skull.

One of the biggest issues for me on this miniature is the skin. I wanted it to look pale and wasted, and I don't think I got there, but this was my first try, and I think it looks decent.

One of the things I like most about this mini are the cables. I broke out the old color wheel to pick a color that would go with red, and of course found green, but I was worried about making all of the cables green and being too samey-samey, and of course there is always the worry of making a Christmas Chaos Space Marine (which gives me an idea for an army theme, but that is for another day), so I decided to use yellow as well.

The green is Orkhide Shade, followed by Snot Green and a little bit of Scorpion Green. The yellow is simply Iyandan Darksun. I really like that color, as it gives a decent yellow without being too bright.

I tried to get a good shot of the green eyes I put on the daemon faces, but this is pretty much the best I came up with. I think they add another bit of contrast to the red, but with the gold/brass in between the red and green I say away from Christmas.

Some close ups of the skulls.

Last but not least, I took this picture to show one of the reasons I have started painting my minis in separate pieces. There is no way I would have got those cables painted if the backpack had been glued to the mini. By having them separate, I got a really cool look, that no one will ever notice.

Except me of course.
