Sky Claws: A Look Back

Well, it has been a wild ride the past few weeks putting these guys together. I think they came out really well. Here are some photos of all of the Sky Claws I have painted.

So here are the last two dudes.  I kitted one out with a power swords, and one with a chain sword.

More Complete Sky Claws

Well here we go. I got some time to finish up some more of my Sky Claws. Here are three more of just the standard guys.

Sky Claw Plasma Pistoleer

Back again with another update. I have really found that sitting down and doing one guy at a time is very easy to do during the week. That being said, I've got five more Sky Claws set up do to, and I am going to try to knock most of them out on the weekend. We'll see how it goes.

My latest Sky Claw has been completed. This guy I knocked out in a couple of hours. As with the Plasma guy, I already had the base done (except the edging) the base coat, highlights and wash on the armor, so there really wasn't much left to do.

As I said last time, with school going, my hobby has slowed down a lot. I have eight more Sky Claws sitting on my desk. I used my new air brush to prime and base them very easily. I then went through and did the bases and then a different day I highlighted the armor, and washed it. From there I sat down and painted up this plasma gunner. I got the body done last night and this evening I did the jump pack.

Or I guess he could be a Wolf Lord, but I digress. So I finished this guy up the other day (boy, hobby time has sloooooooowed down since school has started up again) and I have got to say I really like him.

So, some more progress. Today I have my two Wolf Priests. Its funny, but the one I wasn't expecting to look good, I really like, and unfortunetly the one I expected to look hawt, didn't turn out that way. As you can see, I wen't back and painted them black. It really wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be, and I think they look better now.

So I have finished the first half of my Sky Claws, and I am pretty pleased with the way they came out. 

Wolf Guard Battle Leader: Now With Jump Pack! (WiP)

So for some reason, Sky Claws can't be lead by a Wolf Guard pack leader. When I first saw that in the Codex I thought it had to be a mistake. The Wolf Guard can take a jump pack as gear, and they can also be pack leaders for Swift Claw bike squads, so why not Sky Claws. Well here we are years later, and they've never addressed it in a FAQ, so I'm unhappy with GW about that.

So last time I had a Rune Priest leading the Sky Claws. This time, how about a Wolf Guard battle leader? As I've already stated many times before, I doubt I would use a Sky Claw unit in a regular game, so when it came time to pick a load-out for the WGBL I went with cool rather than practical.

 

Rune Priest #4??? Now with Jump Pack!

Well I would never have the Sky Claws running around by themselves. They are Headstrong after all. So who better to lead them but a Rune Priest (or perhaps a Wolf Priest, or maybe even a Wolf Guard Battle Leader, but those are later posts).

So here goes Rune Priest #4.

It's been three weeks since my last post, so I figured I better get to getting. I haven't been up to nothing, but I just haven't felt like posting, which is usually odd. Normally if I am having difficulties keeping up with the blog it is because I want to post, but don't want to hobby. This is a first. So in the next few posts I'll be showing you what I've been up to. Most of it is unfinished, and I have been doing a little bit of this, and a little bit of that as I feel like it.

Up first, the first five Sky Claws.

I am really at the end of my Space Wolves army. Mainly because I am not missing much for the FOC, or at least stuff I would consider running. So I had some bits left over and decided to throw some Sky Claws together. I don't know if I'd ever use them in a regular game, most people think they suck, but I hope to get into some Apoc games, and at that level, I'll start throwing in some crazy stuff.
